What happened?  Just over a year ago, the freshman squad with now sophomore varsity player Bailey Sulzer went undefeated and no teams coming close to stopping them. After their freshman year the team felt invincible, they felt no team in the area was better. This feeling was kept with them until the second week of their JV season

In week two of the 2016 season West Valley was up against Enterprise, the two best JV teams in the section. There was also a lot of heat between the two teams. Well what happened? West Valley lost, and lost by a large margin.

The Eagles went on to lose their next three games and everyone was pretty much shocked…except for coaches and players.  Brock Taylor, West Valley’s starting tight end and outside linebacker stated, “We were a very selfish team.”  Many players and coaches knew this team had an insane amount of talent but very little discipline.

At the end of season West Valley finished 5-5 winning their last three games lastly beating the league champions Anderson. Myles Gibbons starting Z back and Corner for the game, had two TDs and an INT said, “It was a great feeling beating Anderson in the last game and it was even better to do it in the rain.”

Overall West Valley’s season was a big disappointment with the talent they had. Logan Gonzalez, starting offensive and defensive tackle thoughts on the season overall was “ It was a very fun season, but it didn’t go as expect. We hope to bounce back next year at the varsity level.”

Now as the teams JV year is behind them they are working extremely hard already during the off season. The team and coaching staff are super excited about the team the varsity level has. They think they can go really far.  The JV team wants revenge and a chance to prove they are the best team in the section.
